Jack Huttner – Executive Vice President of Commercial and Public Affairs

Jack HuttnerMr. Jack Huttner is the Executive Vice President of Commercial and Public Affairs at Gevo. He was previously at DuPont Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol LLC (DDCE), where he served as Vice President of Commercial and Public Affairs. Prior to joining DDCE, he was Vice President of Biorefinery Business Development at Genencor, the industrial biotechnology division of Danisco A/S, where he led a multifunctional team whose strategy resulted in a $140 million joint venture with DDCE. Prior to that, Mr. Huttner had global responsibility for communications and external affairs as Vice President of Corporate Communications and Public Affairs at Genencor International, Inc. where he helped shape Genencor’s leadership position in industrial biotechnology for the Company’s initial public offering.

Mr. Huttner was instrumental in the formation of the industrial section of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) in 1998 and served as the section’s governing board chairman for six years. He recently completed his term on the executive committee of Brussels-based EuropaBio, the European Association for bioindustries, where he was chairman of the Industrial Biotechnology Council.

From 2001 to 2002, Mr. Huttner served a two year term as co-chairman of the Biomass Research and Development Technical Advisory Committee, formed by Congress to oversee the federal government’s $300 million bioenergy R&D budget. His appointment was extended by the Bush administration until 2007. Mr. Huttner is also Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Advanced Biofuels Association (ABFA) and has worked extensively with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), non-governmental organizations (NGOs), farm interests and other stakeholders to develop common positions in support of industrial sustainability and the biobased economy.

Mr. Huttner holds a B.A. in philosophy from the University of Buffalo (SUNY).
